Management of Change Checklist

Logical Steps in the Process

Sponsorship

Does this project have named sponsors?

Do they support your action plans?

Have you agreed with them how you want them to support your work?

Are they actively supporting you?

The Changes Themselves

What is the current state from which this project will start?

What is the end state that will result from the successful deployment of this project?

What things will actually change in terms of governance, processes, procedures, systems, roles and responsibilities and required behaviours (at management and IC levels)

What is the value proposition or benefit of these changes, and who are the beneficiaries?

What would be the consequences of not changing?

Do you have a compelling end state vision you can share to engage stakeholders?

Stakeholders and Change Impacts

What groups or individuals are affected by the changes this project will introduce?

How will they experience the change? Positive/Negative? What will change for them?

What potential barriers could you foresee in deploying this change?

Who are the change agents or opinion leaders/influencers who could ‘show the way’ in moving to the new state? Are they on side?

Communication

Who needs to know about this project and its impacts and benefits?

Who needs to also be aware of the implications of the changes that will be introduced (in addition to knowing about the project)?

When do they need to know?

What media would work best?(slide sets for distribution and use in management meetings, coffee talk scripts, web sites, emails, personal face to face)

To whom do you want to communicate specific messages?

Training and awareness

Do any of the behavioural changes required need specific training to acquire new knowledge or skills?

What delivery method will be most effective?

Governance

Do you have a method of tracking progress in deployment?

Are there agreed metrics that will reinforce adoption of the changes being introduced?
